Surely xNTJ, why INTP? At first he comes off as an extraverted thinking type (Te-dom). Reserved, interested in intellectual discussions, self-conscious but he still relies on external references to validate his identity (e.g. Plato's writings). Inferior Fi is clumsy, especially when it emerges on the surface, and he probably has some unacknowledged internal confusion regarding what he really feels. His true feelings are hard to detect (despite his awkward attempts to show Maurice that he liked him), and heavily filtered through an abstract "Ni" vision based on Plato's ideas of pure love. He was in love with his idea, more than with the person.
