hello hello first off pls don't tear me to shreds I will cry about it at night anyways so the reason I think that Lin You has fi-ne is very simple. He always stays true to himself and what he wants, what he's feeling etc. He wants friends because he's curious how it's like to have them (ne) and he wants them, not because it's 'objectively better in social terms' (my way of describing fe) to have friends. (So Lin You has fi. Fi says i want this cuz I want it for me and fe says well it's objectively the socially right thing to do/ it's common sense) I think this part of him shows ne as well. He's very open to making new friends cuz he's never had them before, going out is exciting cuz it's new and he's never done it before... even if he's bad at it, he still tries to do it since he wants friends, from the bottom of his heart. He's actually very open to excitement and new things... of course, being stuck in the same cycle (having to be away from people, not talking to anyone etc.) would make anyone like that but don't you think an Si dom/Ni dom/ anyone with bad extroverted perceiving would struggle to adapt to such a big change all of a sudden or find it intimidating at the very least? The change from being home schooled/never really going to school properly to full on university is a huge one. (I'm most definitely an INFP with pretty high ne and I would be scared shitless tbh but anyways this ain't about me). Instead we see him being nothing but open to new things that he wants to experience. (Because it's new, exciting, he's tired of experiencing the same routine things over and over again, probably. Sounds awful tbh). Seems pretty indicative of higher Ne or at the very least high extroverted perceiving. (But let's be real he has non existent Se. Probably.) Another example of fi is in his early interactions with Yi Kui, before he finds out he's a dream demon. He's always like "Yi Kui is so nice to me... he's such a good person!!" In m opinion, fi always judges things in this way. If someone has high fi, there's a chance they're gonna be describing people as 'you're good!' Or 'you're not good!' based on their own personal feelings/moral compass/how the person treats them specifically. "Yi Kui is so nice to me! He's such a good person!" Lin You decides to himself very early on that he's a good person based on his personal feelings about him, about how he treats him. "Yi Kui is worried about me not sleeping enough! He's such a good person! Yi Kui said he'd help me make friends! He's such a good person!" And "Yi Kui is so nice to me. So I'll be nice to him too." Isn't this so fi? Wouldn't fe be more like 'it's just the right thing to do! Being kind is basic human decency, after all!' (Btw this is just an example of how I think Fe thinks. The point is Fi= subjective morality. Fe= objective morality.) Bit of a side note maybe, but when I think that Yi Kui is definitely high in Ni and extroverted judging. (Most probably fe, maybe maybe te. I can't really tell since I haven't analysed him that well.) But when in chapter 7 when the shoulder thing happens Yi Kui is like "oh no wait should I pretend to be asleep? What should I do??? What's the right thing to do here? Yeah... I'll pretend to be asleep." I think this is high je. If you compare Lin You to Yi Kui you'll easily see who has the Ji preference and who has the Je one. I'll touch upon this later prolly but comparing Yi Kui who has obvious Ni, seriously it's so obvious it's insane, you'll see why Lin You is definitely not an Ni dom of any kind. Yi Kui constantly tries to predict what Lin You will do next, what his intentions are, why he is the way he is, what his own steps should be... and Lin You doesn't do any of that naturally. And then when Lin You does things however he feels like doing Yi Kui calls him unpredictable... which is kinda true. High extroverted perceiving tends to be unpredictable. Another example is, comparing Yi Kui and Lin You again, is when Lin You gets drunk the next day he's like "oh no my classmates think I'm weird now oh no. no friends now??? :(" and Yi Kui is like "don't worry my guy getting drunk is common everyone does it lmao." Yes yes I understand that Lin You didn't interact with people a lot, I just wanna point out how high extraverted judging really looks in a person. Yi Kui's logic is "it's common, everyone does it, it's fine." This is a very common extraverted judging trait I think. And it makes sense cuz it's all about what other people think is right and true and good. Another example of Yi Kui's high Je is in chapter 7 again, where he's like "the relationship between dream demons is predator and prey. So it's impossible for us to be friends." He's saying 'this is the standard. Everyone follows it. So I can't be your friend. Sorry.' Whew this kinda became an essay on Yi Kui lmao. Anyways, if you're having trouble deciding Lin You's mbti, pls compare Yi Kui and Lin You and decide for yourself! I think it might help 1/2
