𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗘𝗙(𝗦) PART 1/4 The fact that people are hassled on here for saying SO9 is an extroverted type is beyond insane to me. Every description of SO9 screams extroversion. And the fact that one person making a now unfortunately famous argument saying it can only be IS(F) has caused so many people to bandwagon and echo this ludicrous claim is both infuriating and just plain sad to me. There are two things that are happening here other than the bandwagoning: not making a distinction between Jung and socionics, and not understanding Jung. 𝗔 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗴 Could SEI fit SO9? Maybe. I'm not educated enough in socionics to tell you that. But if we are talking ONLY Jungian, which I am educated in, SO9 without a doubt fits the extroverted feeling (EF) type best. Let me start this off by saying introverted sensation (IS) in Jung is NOT about comfort, and people saying it is tells me that they either haven't read enough Jung or are talking about socionics. Socionics Si includes liking comfort, but Jungian IS absolutely doesn't. So if your argument is “SO9 is IS(F) because IS(F) likes comfort,” take out the IS(F) and replace it with SEI. Jungian IS is about subjective sense impressions. So, let's argue Jung and not some nonexistent Jung/socionics hybrid. 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘃𝘀. 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 Jungian introversion is defined as an INWARD TURNING of the libido, abstracting from the object and then RETREATING. He describes it as, “an attitude-type characterized by orientation in life through subjective psychic content.” The IS type specifically is described by Jung as, “Seen from the outside, it looks as though the effect of the object did not penetrate into the subject at all. This impression is correct inasmuch as a subjective content does, in fact, intervene from the unconscious and intercept the effect of the object. The intervention may be so abrupt that the individual appears to be shielding himself directly from all objective influences. In more serious cases, such a protective defense actually does exist” (Jung, “Psychological Types”). Now how could an unrelatedness to the object and an actual shielding oneself from it work for SO9, a type that actively seeks out the object and its stimulus? Jungian extroversion is defined as an OUTWARD TURNING of the libido, being drawn TOWARD the object. He describes it as, “an attitude-type characterized by concentration of interest on the external object.” SO9 is called “Belonging” and its main goal is Participation, drawn toward belonging in and participating in groups. That, my friends, is being drawn TOWARD the object. IS is described as alienated from society, withdrawn, and immersed in their inner world. Can you really tell me with a straight face that that fits a type that NEEDS group participation and being around people to be fulfilled? Now let's look at SO9 quotes from various sources and see if any of it corresponds to Jungian introversion in the slightest… From “27 Enneatypes in Search of Being” by Naranjo: “…The passion of E9 social is participation. What you need is to feel part of it. But anyone who has an intense need to do, to become part of something, is a person who does not feel part of anything. For the social E9, the experience of not fitting in, of feeling different, of believing that they do not have what it takes to be part of a group or a community, leads them to overcompensate, to express a kind of generosity, being very attentive to the others and the group. It is a character very gifted in satisfying the needs of others. And he becomes a good leader. The best type of leader, in the sense of being a good person, generous and sacrificed in the face of any type of responsibility that others want to give him.” –My thoughts: SO9s are often drawn to leadership, which in and of itself is a very extroverted thing. Can an introvert be a leader? Absolutely. But will it be their default? Absolutely not. They RETREAT from the object for goodness sake. And in addition to SO9 being very leadership-oriented, they have an extreme need to “feel part of it.” This runs counter to IS and Jungian introversion in general, which abstracts from and retreats from the object rather than approaching and embracing it like an extroverted type does. From “Essays on the Psychology of the Enneatypes” by Naranjo: “Social: Participation. A desire to feel part of the group, family, or community through altruistic service, without perceiving one's own experiences of alienation.” –My thoughts: Jungian introversion is described as retreating from the object after they abstract from it and when the object pervades an IS individual it is described as revealing, “the reality alienating subjectivity of this type.” So why exactly would a reality-alienated type like IS have belonging and participation in groups as their main focus in life?

ชีวประวัติ

Social Nines fuse with groups. They act out the passion of laziness when connecting with their own inner life by working hard to be a part of the different groups in their lives. Fun-loving, sociable, and congenial characters, Social Nines can be workaholics, prioritizing the group’s needs above their own. This high level of activity makes them the countertype of the three Nine subtypes. SO9 Trait Structure and Descriptions: https://wiki.personality-database.com/books/enneagram/page/social-9-in-detail
