They aim to minimize their dysphoria and express themselves in the way they are most comfortable without really imposing themselves onto others even if they know they're being treated unfairly. The case of the uniform is a perfect example of this. Hope tells them they can't wear their baggy uniform, but Cal keeps wearing it because it's better for them and also doesn't actually hurt anyone else. When Hope pushes back, Cal doesn't cause a conflict or even go to the student forum. Instead they just take it and keep doing their own thing. Clearly they prioritize inner peace above outer control, very sp 9w8 if you ask me. I know that not all 8s are abrasive and aggressive control freaks - and sure you can say that Cal is just an unstereotypical 8 - but there comes a point where a character just does not have enough of the characteristics associated with a type to be that type.
