"Les Fausses Confidences" is a comedy in prose by Marivaux performed for the first time on March 16, 1737. Dorante is a young man from a noble family, but ruined. He fell in love with a young widow named Araminte, who is very rich. With his former valet, Dubois, whom he had not been able to keep for lack of means, and who is now in the service of Araminte, they work out a plan to make him marry her.
