I don’t get why so many people vote for Fi-dom here. From my first time reading the novel, his internal dialogue clearly goes through Ti-Ne-Si-Fe, and I hardly see any Fi traces in his thought process. I’ve read all the comments about INFP already, and they’re still not convincing about Fi though. For example, the side story clearly states that An Zhe is basically immortal; he can continuously live as long as he can germinate spores. This explains why he considers his spores more important than his own life—because his spores is his life. Thus, An Zhe's determination to go to the human base to find his spores is basically his instinct as a mushroom. Instinct =/= feeling; every animal species has its own instincts, but we cannot say all of them have human-like feelings or use Fi/Fe. Second, the moment An Zhe chooses to stay at the base after successfully getting his spores is based on his emotions, that’s true. However, when talking about 'feeling functions' in Jung’s cognitive theory, neither of them is about emotions—because everyone can experience emotions, including those with low Fe or Fi. Simply saying An Zhe is a feeling type because he acts on his emotions is a misconception. If An Zhe had a Fi-Te axis, he would consider his actions through the lens of his values and empathetic stances first, as the internal side of the axis (Fi) provides all the important internal sources for validation, and then his Te would help him put the final solution into play right away. Now let’s look at how An Zhe makes up his mind. He’s confused by his indecision at first, then he tries to figure out why he feels that way by wondering what about the city makes him linger. Though his rationalization turns out to be very silly: The city has nothing good except potato soup, but his spores wants to be close with Lu Feng, so he will stay there longer, waiting for Lu Feng to come back. There's no sentimental reasoning here. He struggles to understand his own emotions directly, so he finds an external reason that makes more sense (his spores) to validate his action instead. I would say this is an example demonstrating the Ti-Fe axis rather than Fi-Te. Not related to type analysis, but here’s something I’ve noticed so far. When I last checked this profile a year ago (before the novel was adapted), there was only one vote for INFP and about 10-11 votes for INTP. But after the manhua was published, the INFP votes suddenly increased. Not to mention, his portrayal in the manhua is similar to the cute stereotype of INFP in other BL manga/manhua/manhwa, which is quite a coincidence. I don't know whether people are typing him solely based on the manhua or not, but I just wanna say that a warm-hearted Ti-dom exists, guys. I think I should reread the novel and write a complete analysis to show this. His Ti-Ne-Si can be seen everywhere, but his development of Fe is quite tricky to spot as he doesn’t express much from the beginning.
