although i'm not entirely certain whether or not onogi is a sexual 1, it's the type i'm currently leaning most towards. other possibilities include the self preservation 3 and maybe even the counterphobic 6. sexual 1s are also often mistyped as 8s: "this One can look like a type Eight. Like Eights they can be energetic, assertive, and strong. These Ones believe the have a right to impose their vision and get what they need, in the same way an Eight might overpower or dominate a situation to impose their own will." (beatrice chestnut) before i talk about instinctual variants, i'll delve into why i believe onogi is most likely an enneagram 1. "The passion of Anger/Resentment causes the One to be judgmental and critical, as they are constantly frustrated with themselves and the world for not living up to their high standards of perfection and correctness." (naranjo) right from the first episode, it's made prevalent that onogi will not acknowledge anyone who doesn't try and isn't serious about the sport. "Anger: resentment at failure to meet their perfectionistic standards, vehement "righteous indignation", largely unexpressed hatefulness" (naranjo) an example of this anger appears near the end of season 1: onogi says, "it really makes me mad! the fact that i didn't realize that myself..." when narumiya tells the team to stop focusing so much on what their coach had taught them. during onogi's "faceoff" with shuu, this anger is also expressed as he gets more and more obsessed. he's not too unhealthy of a character though (to me at least) and he's willing to listen to criticism (though not without resistance). 1s also tend to be very criticizing, and we see him criticize his teammates multiple times throughout the show, sometimes even when no one else thinks there's anything to be criticized. "This is the only Type 1 subtype that feels more comfortable with anger. They tend to express anger more than the other subtypes, even though they also sometimes control it. They are more critical of others than they are of themselves, although they are still self-critical. They claim connection to a higher moral authority and are more often reformers than perfectionists. They are zealous when advocating for what they see as right, for what needs to be fixed, and for their right to get what they want." (beatrice chestnut). we can easily rule out the other 1 subtypes, as onogi is clearly quite comfortable with expressing his anger. it's much less repressed than it would be if he was a social or self preservation 1. though critical of himself, he tends to scold others even when facing the same problem (such as in the scene where right after 2 of his teammates miss, he misses right after). he's also adamant on not acknowledging narumiya, whom he thinks is half-hearted about kyuudo. sexual 1s are also very faithful and loyal (haiki), and we see proof of this when onogi is basically ready to go to war for narumiya when the twins from kirisaki jab at his target panic. this is a bit of a mess, but if anyone has arguments for any of the other types i've mentioned (or even another type), feel free to enlighten me. also i forgot to mention this, but onogi doesnt struggle with a fear of control or manipulation, whilst 8s usually do
