Colin Rand Kaepernick (born November 3, 1987) is a former American football quarterback who played for the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-2016. Kaepernick played college football for the University of Nevada in Reno, where he was named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year twice — and became the only player in NCAA Division I FBS history to amass 10,000 passing yards and 4,000 rushing yards in a career. After graduating, he was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
