ok i’m landing on ESFP 4w3. Charli only has 4 songs on this album in which she flaunts herself in some way (360, 365, Club classics, Von dutch). she copes with her sadness & downward mental spiral by partying to her and her friends’ own music, fixating on her clothing, style, and success, & doing c0ke. the rest of the album is a …complete emotional mess. she’s incredibly paranoid and shameful about her place in the industry. she’s so depressed due to her recent habit of ruminating over her and her career’s future, that she says it’s making her want to carry out suicide (Sympathy is a knife). she’s also very, very jealous and displays herself as a secret hater and downfall-wisher on 1 person in particular (Taylor Swift) in SIAK..and this is when the suicide threat comes up. she’s constantly comparing herself to her peers and thinking about *their* places in society, then anxiously analyzing her own (Sympathy is a knife, I might say something stupid, etc). she tries to heal by constantly partying and publicly praising herself (see 4 songs mentioned in first paragraph) but she is just so incredibly distracted by the sadder things in life, like the death of SOPHIE (So I). Charli can’t help but feel like her life and relationships are falling apart (Girl, so confusing, Apple, B2b). she’s just very sad and her rocky relationship with her parents is making it worse (Apple). she’s constantly worried about the future, including the big decision of if she and her husband, George, want to start a family (I think about it all the time). she’s developing social anxiety, can’t stop thinking about her physical appearance and health (Rewind), and feels too ashamed to do “famous people things” like calling up the paparazzi to take pics of her, comparing herself to other celebrities who do (Rewind, I might say something stupid). i just can’t help but see it all as SeFi (which it seems the majority of us have already agreed on). but the 4 core goes under the radar when it comes to convos about this album. the majority of the lyrics in Brat are bluntly sad, envious, & vengeful, and filled with grief, shame, & anxiety. but GOD, it’s also sooo good as a party album sonically. i love it.
