Ok, so we need to talk about her typing. Usually, ISTPs are the ones being mistyped as INTJs. Here, it is an INTJ mistyped as an ISTP. It honestly baffles me to see Trevathan, an ACTUAL ISTP being typed as ENTP, because if that man doesn't use Se, to contrast against Mae's repressing of Se, then I don't know what it is. He makes absolutely sure to lecture her on the fact that she keeps obsessing over worlds that aren't the current world itself. His Se is making him pessimistic and Mae refuses to oblige to it. According to him, she keeps obsessing over a world that could never exist again, and should stop immediately, in order to see the world as it currently is and accept that reality is what they have. This is a character who uses high Se. This is an actual ISTP. He refuses to perceive anything in any way other than what he sees with his own eyes (Se) and believes that inherently, those who do not see things in the same way are incorrect, plainly wrong, there's only one possible evaluation of the facts, which is peak Ti-Se. The Theocratic Stack (STPs and NFJs) believe there is a correct way to both evaluate information and a correct way to see the world. No other possible perceptions or ways of seeing the world (No Ne-Si) and a refusal to protest with anger against what actually makes sense (No Te-Fi). Given that, I believe Trevathan is an ISTP because he is obviously facts first. He prioritizes both Sensory Perception and Thinking Judgment. And between Ni and Fe, he definitely represses Fe. That much is shown how he does not trust the judgment of other people, and believes that others who don't see the same thing as him need to learn. He only trusts the facts he sees, and refuses to give hope to interpersonal causes or the values of others. Truth first and the perception of that truth is objective to him. That is an ISTP. Not Mae. As Trevathan said, Mae's deal is that she cannot just accept the world as it simply is. She feels the burning need to change it from its current state. She has her ideal vision of how things should be, how humans should have control again. But, unlike Trevathan who uses Ti, Mae does not defend those completely Ni-leading perceptions using interpersonal logic and condemning people for how they want the world to be. She uses Fi, emotionally protesting against serving the apes' world in any way, because to her, the world is human property and things shouldn't be the way they are now, which shows especially her repressing of Se, refusing to accept current reality in any way. In terms of Te, you can see just how she can do anything in order to achieve what she wants. She kills Trevathan because there is absolutely no way that this man could potentially ruin the plan, even if she didn't condone killing, she did it anyway because she is willing to do whatever is necessary to reach what goal she wants, and mutually agrees to work with the apes, merely because they are useful to her goals. It's obvious Te. There is zero Ti in this woman. So much so that when it comes time to decide, she gets exactly what she needs and then her priority from there is just to destroy everything and escape. Everything else is secondary or irrelevant. Te categorizes facts on their use, need to be there, relevance. Only what is important for the Te user's goals truly matters and should be protected. The rest is secondary. Even at the end of the movie, when she meets Noa again, she still sticks to her beliefs completely, beliefs those that she does not adapt, flexibilize or sacrifice in any possible way. She believs what she believs and nothing changes it. She holds to them with big passion. She is a painful INTJ. The only other possible type I could think would be ISTJ, but I believe Inferior Se fits her more than Inferior Ne.
