The police badge is just a tool, a means for her to ultimately unravel the truth behind her sister's kidnapping, and to make her city a better place for the Infected population. Her end goal isn't to become Lungmen's Best Cop TM, it's something much grander, much nobler: she's looking to thwart evil and create equal living everywhere she goes. Those marginalized groups that aren't being heard? You bet they'll be heard, now that she's here. Maybe it's a childish vision to the many people around her, but with her level of conviction, "impossible" is just an excuse. She doesn't believe in waiting around for others, instead seeking to implement changes as efficiently as possible. Terra isn't going to become a safer place by itself after all. For those who have gotten as far as Chapter 7, you'll remember how she showed little hesitation in casting aside her title as leader of special ops (and leaping out the window from the 20th floor—being action-oriented/impulsive is just another ENTJ thing). Just because her uncle is the city's mayor and a powerful politician doesn't mean she has to take after him. Title doesn't mean much to her if it's holding her back from her own goals. She leaves her home city to join Rhodes, where she has found colleagues and friends that support her ideals and help her to continuously grow as a person. Her module story "In One Effort", and Beyond Here omnibus "Sword and Scale", serve great examples of her innovative and ambitious sides as she struggles against enemies and disagreeing friends, and most importantly, herself.
