Although of the consensus, I feel like he's rather a type 7. He doesn't exhibit that greed characteristic of the 5s nor that conviction that the outside world won't give him the love he desires, so the best option is to distance himself, arranging things for himself. More than that, I'd say he uses his countless inventions and machines as an escape mechanism from reality and a form of amusement. In none of his lines does he express a desire to be alone (flight/isolation), nor does he seem proud of his autonomy. One of the most important points of 5 is to distance himself from the world, to become an observer and analyze it from the outside. However, as can be seen from his lines and interactions in the main story, X is nothing of the sort. He seeks to interact with people for fun, arguably dragging people in to be test subjects for his experiments ("Haha ... I got you! I won't let you go, unless you agree to join my experiment!") Instead of gatekeeping the knowledge that makes him safe, as a 5 would do, he shares it, expands it, forces it into situations that have nothing to do with it and seems to gain satisfaction from it. Most of his inventions serve no purpose, but he continues with them without explanation, creates his own separate reality for fun. ("The invention of a reason for an attitude or action whose motive is not recognized. It reinterprets the reality of a situation or one's own actions, focusing on the positive aspects to justify or explain one's behavior by making it appear good and noble, thus circumventing obstacles to one's own pleasure as well as fleeing from consequences, setbacks, and feelings of guilt."). 7 > 5, imo. Feel free to argue back or correct things. I literally wrote this at 9pm in my notes app

Arcanist | X A genius who uses machines to create new possibilities. With unique appearance and cockiness, he can always pull in unlucky souls as test subjects for invention. "What interesting accident will happen next?"
