He is showing a lot of Ni and Fe, but also some (lower) Ti and Se. For example, he decided to chat with Rufus and then listen to his guts in order to decide if he wants to meet up with him and give it a shot or not. I think only a high Ni user would base such a kind of big decision exclusively to his gut feeling. Mateo seems to really trust his gut. Also, when he carries the bird on the street away, he is thinking about how that is a typical „Mateo-thing“ and he knows that no one would understand this and is used to people thinking what he does is strange, that really sounds like a kinda frustrated but used to it Ni-Fe user. (Ni—> not a lot of people are focused on the same bigger picture thoughts, Fe —> he understands why other people don’t think/feel like him) He is also showing some Ti when he is excited about the robots he read about and tells Rufus about them, or when he is generally nerding out. He then uses Ni-Ti when he imagines a future with the robots and how things will develop. Moreover Rufus thinks that he is spending much more time in his own head than would be good for him. This could also be Ne like in the „Ne world“ of an high Ne user xNxP, but he doesn’t mean it in a sense of „having your own world in your head“ like with a high Ne user and more in a less positive „you‘re overthinking way too much what could/will happen and then don’t talk to anyone about it“ Ni way. A sign of low/uncontrolled Se is when he stumbles against the bookshelf in the book store for no reason simply because he has no real connection with his body. Mateo comes off as the biggest enneagram 6 cliché that is out here I guess. He is overthinking everything and always expects that something terrible will happen, even before he got the call. He also really has some trust issues in basically everything, like when he mentions the serial killer from the last friends app and says that this is one of the many reasons he can’t trust mankind. Another example would be how he imagines so many worst case scenarios when he is about to open the door for Rufus the first time and gets extremely nervous. Even Rufus is affected by how Mateo sees dangers everywhere. The wing 5 could be explained with his relatively well developed Ti. About why he isn‘t a 6w7 (in my opinion): they tend to talk to other people when they are making important decisions and need to know the opinions of their peers in order to make one, whereas 6w5s tend to shut out the outer world and only rely on their own inner world. They can get very lost in their heads and I think Mateo does that too. He didn’t even turn to his best friend, surely because of Fe and he didn’t want her to worry about him, but I think also because he just wasn’t able to talk about his thoughts for a while. He firstly had to sort out his thoughts in his own head —> 6w5 over 6w7. I wouldn’t say that he is an Fe Dom after all, the most present function is Ni. So I‘d say he uses Ni-Fe-Ti-Se which leads to INFJ.
