This man is an INFJ. The “search for meaning” that INFJs undertake became a crisis—and even an obsession—for him, and he later came to realize how absurd the whole notion of “meaning” is. Even his fixation on “meaning” is characteristic of an INFJ; and the way he rejects it is also INFJ in nature. His obsession with a system of values, followed by his questioning of it, is a classic Ni–Fe–Ti inner conflict. I understand why some vote for ESTP, since his views on values and meaning align with what you’d expect from an ESTP type. However, that doesn’t make him an ESTP, because his underlying cognitive processes remain distinctly INFJ. ESTPs generally don’t experience such abstract, metaphysical crises about “meaning.” Extended solitary travel, deep introspection, and prolonged inner crises aren’t typical ESTP behaviors.
