Sakura Yaotome (矢や乙おと女め 桜さくら Yaotome Sakura?) is a recurring character of Mikadono Sanshimai wa Angai, Choroi. She is the self-proclaimed rival of Miwa.She is a first-year high school shogi player who claims to be Miwa's rival. In a shogi world filled with young prodigies, she was just an ordinary player, but through perseverance and thorough study, she rose to the ranks of a professional, embodying a diligent and hardworking spirit. However, she still frequently loses to the overwhelmingly talented Miwa. Determined to defeat her, she constantly follows Miwa around, studying her with unwavering dedication.[17] While she calls herself Miwa's rival, Miwa merely teases her, considering Sakura as unremarkable. Despite this, Miwa treats Sakura as warmly as she does Yuu, making them more like frenemies in reality. Sakura notices a change in Miwa's condition before an important match. While studying her more closely than usual, she discovers that Yuu is the reason behind Miwa's change. Initially, she is wary of Yuu, but upon realizing that, like her, Yuu is also a diligent worker rather than a natural talent, she begins to feel a sense of kinship with him. Unlike Yuu, however, Sakura has a strong sense of pride and cannot understand why Yuu is content to support Miwa from behind the scenes. Later, during a title match, Sakura manages to win two games against Miwa for the first time. When Yuu arrives late to the venue, Sakura taunts him with remarks that seem to mock Miwa, but Yuu recognizes the sincerity in her words. In response, Yuu thanks her, which makes Sakura blush and defensively retort that it wasn't her intention. Meanwhile, despite being a supporting character, Sakura often finds herself in romantic situations with Yuu, rivaling those of the Mikadono sisters, which sometimes provokes their ire.
