{ 1 / 4 } Mizi is a self-preservation 2 (+ debunking e9) edit; After the new comic, everything I said about Shine wound up being true! — I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to upset you! But I have no idea what I did wrong. What did I do? I decided to write this despite the consensus being SP2 because I feel like she’s being mischaracterized by both sides to a certain extent (both those that are for and against the SP2 consensus, some view her as a manipulative monster and others still think Mizi is just an oblivious girl). I would like to explain properly why Mizi is SP2 going by my personal interpretation of her character. Please read it all before criticizing. I will link every analysis I’ve utilized for my interpretation at the end. I will also refute E9. ➼ Mizi’s Role and what she meant for the people closest to her —— : When we are first presented to the character of Mizi, we are presented with an optimistic girl that externalizes her emotions without issue and is seen in a positive light by everyone around her. She is innocent, charming, and hopeful. In comparison to the other children at the garden, Mizi was growing up in a ‘decent’ environment under Shine. Just as we humans take care of our pets, Mizi was what is most similar to a human pet. She was genuinely well-cared of and didn’t live in neglect. She wasn’t used as an object of bragging, but as a genuine companion. However, to what extent was Mizi treated with the respect a human deserves? Although her guardian was kind, the treatment she was receiving was still akin to a pet, even being petted with toothbrushes similarly to how cats are in our world. A pet is loved, but at the end of the day they are merely a pet, and they are more well-liked when they’re affectionate and cuddly. —— “The meaning of “tender” is someone who is affectionate, loving and kind. It generally refers to childhood, to explain a delicate and docile way of being because of one’s young age and experience. The conservation E2 is a person who especially highlights these traits, who invites that soft and gentle experience. This characteristic, in which she conducts herself with utmost naturalness, is a way of attracting protection, of being cared for, which guarantees her to remain intact and away from the complications of the rough and tumble of life and relationships.” Shine doesn’t need to be a bad person, because seygiens don’t have the same morality or feelings humans do, and Mizi’s treatment was to their best intention. Shine could be nice to Mizi, and it would show how despite this Mizi feels like if she isn’t smiling, innocent, and pure she won’t be loved. Since she was young, Mizi has learned to behave in a way that evokes protection and comfort from others by leaning into her emotivity. Since she is treated like a pet, she has a mindset not much different to that of puppies who are shown tricks and given treats when they get it right. They are children who learn that love has a price and that for others to love you and validate you, you have to show certain attitudes. Obviously, the fact that Mizi was the only child treated with genuine kindness by her master also affected her. It is a no brainer to assume the other children would get jealous and deserving of the same treatment, and thus grow to resent Mizi. But it also meant Mizi was put on a pedestal, and inherent expectations were placed upon her simply due to her characteristic attitude. A lot of the children began to admire Mizi and started seeing her as a beacon of light and warmth, someone you wish to be close to. Mizi was seen for her smile in the darkest of times, for everyone else, she managed to light up the room because she had grown up in a completely different world, compared to those who had suffered. Mizi, who had seemingly not experienced pain, was then turned into an unreachable goddess where protection was of utmost importance. Till, for example, only saw Mizi as a sort of muse. He wasn’t sure why exactly he liked Mizi and couldn’t put it into words. The other children also just saw Mizi as a beautiful girl with joy in her heart. In reality, Mizi was clearly just like the rest of them, scared of normal things like every other child, but with a passion for life and discovery. All Mizi ever wanted was to live full of love and joy. But by maintaining the image of the fragile child with a heart of gold, she harmed herself in hopes of helping and making everyone else able to enjoy life, as if saying ‘Since I had the opportunity to grow with love and fun, I want to make sure everyone can have it, too.’ She keeps up this act in order not to be ostracized by her peers, who criticize her when she shows different emotions to what they’re used to, when she asserts her real feelings about a situation in a way they find unlikable. When she is told she is liked because of her beauty, she gets anxious, but laughs and goes “Haha, I see!” and ignores that she’s not being seen for who she truly is.
