Accentuation , character accentuation , personality accentuation , accentuated personality trait (from the Latin accentus – stress) is a character trait (in other sources – personality ) within the clinical norm , in which individual traits are excessively enhanced, resulting in selective vulnerability to some psychogenic influences while maintaining good resistance to others. Accentuations are not mental disorders , but in a number of their properties they are similar to personality disorders , which allows us to assume a connection between them [ 1 ] .
