Dominique Pestre (born in 1950) is a French science historian. He is director of studies at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS). A former professor of physical sciences, Dominique Pestre directed the Centre de recherche en histoire des sciences et des techniques de La Villette and then the Centre Alexandre Koyré (CNRS-EHESS) [1]. His work focuses on the history of science and technology, the major scientific systems of the 20th century, the relationship between science and the military world, and the study of knowledge about science that has developed since the 1950s, such as the study of scientific controversies, Science Studies and the sociology of science, full of general themes [2].
