Based purely on the anime, they really gave us the least info about Kanata's cognitive functions... poor girl. What's evident though is she has low Te, but Ti-dom is just not remotely defendable. Si > Se as well, but I'm not quite sure if she prefers Ni or Ne, or Fi or Fe. But as an overview, I landed on INFJ by looking at her holistically (and focusing on types with Te PoLR/inferior and Si preference over Se, which points you to IxFJ or INFP). When focusing purely on INFP vs. INFJ, INFJ overall seems to better describe Kanata. She is relatively more logical, consistent, and more of a seamless team player. Forgive me for these broad descriptions - as mentioned above, the anime really gave us nothing to work with. Finally, my consideration came down between INFJ and ISFJ. Overall, I believe Kanata is more of an intuitive type (I know, what a lackluster thing to say) but consider this real-life discrepancy that can manifest between IxFJs (written by an INFJ with an ISFJ S.O.): "One of the most telling moments for this was when we went to get a mortgage and the person explaining things to us did so in a very intuitive way. Afterwards my wife complained to me to say that it was hard to follow for her. She needs a basis of facts to hang the theory on. I responded that for me it's necessary to have a basis of theory to hang the facts on." In general, I don't see Kanata as someone to get hung up over the facts and specific details. She seems like she'd be quite comfortable discussing the more abstract and intangible. And that's it, that's my whole argument. It's not great but I genuinely think it's because we got nothing.
