For once, I absolutely adore the typing that something was given on this site. I have seen arguments for IxFP, though I must say I disagree. Yes, it would make sense for those who are IxFP to be drawn to this genre/lifestyle. Though I cannot ignore the way ISFJ esque functions and cognitive patterns fit cottagecore like a glove. (Those factors are not at all mutually exclusive by the way, those who enjoy the aesthetic are not necessarily the same type that embodies it :) ) Si aspects of cottagecore are what are most present to me. Reverting to a simpler time, away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. It was a way of life that people used to lead, some time ago. Admittedly, I am trying to envision it myself. The look of a quaint European countryside, along with residing in a modest little abode near a field of wildflowers is purely beautiful simplicity. My mother, who is an ISFJ, is drawn to these types of things. Never cared for what is flashy, she manages to obscure + appreciate the little details of life that I otherwise would not have noticed. Just as the ISFJ Si-Fe combination, beauty is often found in small, yet pleasant things: picking flowers from a rosebush, leafing through the pages of a recipe book, running through the fields in the afternoon sun, clothes blowing faintly in the wind as they hang out to dry. Cottagecore at its heart is simple and unadulterated. No flair for the dramatic, it is a generally a peaceful and harmonious form of living.
