I think she's ego Ni vs Dan's mobilizing Ni. She seems fluent in the intangible, and doesn't seem upset or thrown off by her power that you can't physically grasp or point at. Dan, who is also powerful, but nowhere near as much, is more rejecting of it, trying to focus on what is 'real'. She's strong, but she's conflict averse, as she's trying to make sure her parents are at ease as well as safe, and doesn't like to upset them, hence I think Fe is valid. Dan on the other side has strong personal values, but doesn't much care whether they are abrasive or approved.
