I could see wing 1 in Rowan at the beginning of Scythe when he was still in high school, but advancing in the book, the w8 became clearer. He shows the exact conflict between this combination: at the same time he's very passive and desires harmony, he wants to assert himself and has a slight desire for aggression laying underneath his calm attitude. He gets expansive and looks for independence, even tho he subordinates himself at times. He has high morals just as 9w1, but he's not that emotionally controlled and repressed as them. "9w8s bring a stable, calm, firm, and solid energy into places and situations. The Eight wing brings an aura of strength to the easygoing Type Nine. Their strength is much more reserved and detached than the aggression and raw power of the pure Type Eight, though. The Eight wing helps the Nine to move through life with more common sense, directness, and a take-charge attitude."
