Could he possibly be in Ne/Se grip or at least in shadow after the sundering? Comparing his personality from Elpis to ShB, it's like he is a completely different person. - He rejects newer ideas unlike Hyth, - He is a lot more serious and grumpy with a cynical attitude - He is way too stubborn for his own good like when he did not want to believe his own fate - He is a lot more closed-off and inexpressive, it takes him more time to open up towards others - He is skeptical - etc He wasn't like that at all in ShB. I removed my ENTP vote because he was different, is it possible that he is some IxTJ (more likely ISTJ due to NeSi)?
