People say Ash is too difficult to type because he's different in every film. I say there's ONE constant through line and it can be summed up with one line from Ash vs Evil Dead and it's "I didn't ask for this! You think I want this horsesh*t?! Be covered in blood 24/7? Who the f**k would want that?!" In each film his main motivation is "I don't want to deal with this" "I want this to be over" "I wish I could just live a normal life" "Do I *have* to save everyone?" "I just want to go home" The only reason he seems as bad-ass as he does occasionally is simply integration into 3, getting off his lazy ass and saving people. Same as his distrust for people who need his help which is disintegration into 6. He's just a chill, kinda lazy dude who wants to be at peace but can't because of evil forces outside his control to the point where instead of living he just kinda survives.
