I believe Joel is either a SO 4 or SX 5. The avoidance of exposition fits both types. The reason I chose SX 5 is that Fear seems to be his driving emotion rather than Shame. He looks like he's always processing things very logically underneath. He also has some trust issues and gets a bit paranoid at times. The point contrary to SX 5 is that he never opens up about himself which is something SX 5s do once they find their ideal partner. Him hiding himself could be seen as the neurosis of the SO 4, the most shameful type of all Enneagrams. Joel seems like he feels inferior when he compares himself to Clementine. Another point favoring SO 4 is his intellectuality. IS(F) is clear. He's a routine-oriented guy and enjoys documenting his life on his diaries. E6 doesn't fit IS(F), since the constant searching for principles to deal with insecurity towards ambiguity in E6 points out to a type who uses a judging function as dominant. The easy-going nature of IS(F) could also fit SX 9, but I think E9 is a very bad take for him. I see no sign of sloth at the slightest.
