| ABOUT TAY | The scheming, brooding, and highly-troubled main character who most of the death game is shown through the eyes of. His ‘killing story’ that landed him in the Life Game involved him torturing and accidentally murdering a fellow student at university. Due to insecurities over his ability to land a job and earn money due to how telekinetic technology in Renyland was developing, Tay scammed fellow students to earn money, buying up the most desired items on campus and selling them back to people for three times the price. One student decided to extort the extortionist and stole Tay’s Pasbrut medicine. Pasbrut was a condition that Tay had that, if you do not take regular medicine for, causes your throat to seize, spasm, and stiffen, causes blood in the urine, and fractures the mind. As his Chronic Pasbrut worsened, his mind snapped. But instead of paying him the money he asked for, Tay decided to take revenge instead by cutting and slashing the student who stole his pills in a torture session that ended in accidental death. In order to avoid punishment, he was forced to play "The Life Game" with other young adults who had similar backstories to his when it came to wasting their promising potential and committing murder. Tay is an observant, mistrustful, and manipulative player during the Life Game. He is intelligent and amoral, constantly formulating plans and schemes to outwit others. He takes his money, health, and possessions incredibly seriously and becomes murderously vengeful whenever anyone interferes with or plans to affect any of the three. He feels a deep sense of existential emptiness and has no true life’s purpose. Only three things in life give him pleasure: outsmarting others, playing with minds, and earning money.
