I am a huge fan of Bebop. I probably watched the original series about 20 times, the movie and read the manga including shooting star. I can tell you Ed is a 2 sided coin. At a point in the show she hissed over a little food. In the manga, when Scorpion told her to stop following him because the bebop crew would always be intercepted, she was about to get in a claw match with him. So she has a huge ego over her skills to the point where "things" mean more than "people". The only exception was Ein where in the manga, she cried over just finding him. I beleive this is an exertion of autistic traits like her past at the convent where she grew up. At 8yo she had wandered in to the convent, [she probably got into a lot of fights], found Tomato (read manga), left the convent and held this simple feeling of rejection because she didn't understand boundaries. So to summarize her, she is an Alexithymaic-ADHD low masking-autistic child. It's good to frame it that way because finder her headspace is correllative to understanding her development as a character.
