how come he is e5 first of all he is Ne dom and Ne dom can't be e5. Where is he supposed to be withdrawn where he is afraid to participate in the world just because he is smart doesnt make him e5 he is e7 all his tricks and all his work is fun for him i dont think he is a serious law enforcer who catches criminals for the sake of others, he does it for fun, he mentally tortures Raskolnikov for pleasure, it satisfies him, he actually tests the acquired knowledge and is fascinated by it, so he actively participates in the world.
