I think he's a particularly healthy ESTJ. His Te and Si are clear in his treatment of Susie and mentoring, but he also has strong Ne and Fi with his opinions relating to the prophecy, in addition to feeling no desire to utilize the shadow crystal. Unlike jevil and spamton, who are obsessed with freedom, Gerson doesn't need a point of comparison (as Jevil would) and possesses no fixation on achieving it (like Spamton). I think 172 also fits particularly well as a tritype considering his main teaching seems to do with controlling Susie's anger and drive to better her healing powers and refuse to give up. This is clear particularly when he helps fight the titan with the main crew, showing them there's reason to keep hoping. 7 is clear with his ability to actually be free, and 2 also seems to make the most sense seeing his drive to teach others.
