Lucas Hedges does it again— a phenomenal actor with a diverse range. He really is something. Patrick Chandler is posed at the antagonist in the film I suppose, but he is also a very complex and interesting character. He has a strong desire for connection and security, and also a desire to be loved, by his two girlfriends. He also never hesitates to argue, and speaks his mind most of the time, sometimes tactful, sometimes not. Adhering to societal norms, such as his friends and sport clubs, and also not wanting to leave Manchester-by-the-sea because he feels content there, shows his need for safety and security. Patrick isnt meant to be necessarily likable or reliable, or hated. He’s just there. He’s a teenager, who is processing grief differently to his Uncle. That is what makes him so captivating to watch onscreen. Therefore, I think he is an ESFP 6w7. An outstanding performance by the actor.
