I believe Char is much more like a Social 2 than a Social 8. It would be easy to assign Ego-Vengeance to Char given how his father was killed but I believe his key issue is Pride and not Lust. This becomes clear when we look at his childhood-wounds; "As the son of Zeon Zum Deikun, a great saint who was revered by the world, he is a complex character who is burdened with the pain of being expected to succeed his father, and the lonely anguish of not being able to receive sufficient affection as a boy because of the political struggle that the Zabi family had waged against him since he was a child." This is exactly the making of an Enneagram 2, someone who was unloved and did not receive affection so instead becomes over-identified with the self, rejecting dependency and in the case of the Social 2 often developing a saviour complex. Char actively seduces those around him in service of his goals yet presents himself as the one to save others and fix the issues of the world. This happens with Lalah, Reccoa, Quess, etc. This ties into the Cold trait of the Social 2; "He shows himself immensely empathic and emotional when he is set to conquer. Just as he is emotionally indifferent once it doesn't interest him anymore or when he abandons it for another conquest." His Pride goes so far in CCA that he even gives Amuro a better Mobile Suit so he can "beat him under fair circumstances". An E8 would not do this, as they are set to fighting perceived injustice, not seeking to reaffirm their superiority. This need to prove his superiority is what Char's conflict with Amuro through Gundam is all about and this lines up perfectly with the Competitive trait of Social 2 that believes he can beat anyone no matter what; "His ego cannot sustain the idea of there being worthy enough an adversary to be taken into account. He has already defeated the most difficult and powerful one as a child; mommy or daddy. Since then exists his taste for conquering the giant only to then depreciate and abandon it. The burried fear is that, if he can't, he will become what he is most afraid of being: useless. Then will arive despise and expulsion being abandoned, like in childhood, to a chaotic emotional world and to solitude." As for his tritype; I believe Char would have a 1 fix, not an 8 fix. He goes to great ends to fix what he perceives problems with the world and with humanity, with the corruption of Earth. This goes with the reaction-formation defense mechanism of E1 that seeks to undo what is wrong, bad and defective and over-obsesses with the problems of the world. The souls weighed down by gravity. This is also why he's EF(N) by Jung and not ET(N). Extraverted Rationals can seem similar but Char isn't a pragmatic person demanding others follow his systematic rule so much as someone who sees what he does and sells to others as the best for everyone ethically.
