Before 7w8 takes over, let me say this; McNulty may not be as temperamental, angry, and controlling as a stereotypical 8, but he is an 8. He constantly questions and challenges authority, refusing to let any authority control him, which, ultimately, is his main motivation throughout the series. Watch that scene where a psychological profile is, admittedly indirectly but still highly accurately, made for McNulty. I feel as if a lot of people are misunderstanding enneagram 8. Enneagram 8 does not translate to "angry person", nor does "angry person" translate to enneagram 8. Also, taking instinctual variants into the mix, sx 8 is a really good match for someone like McNulty (no way he's a sexual seven lmao)
背景
The closest thing to a main character in The Wire. A detective in Homicide, he is an alcoholic womanizer, something of a deadbeat, insubordinate toward his supervisors, and known for coming up with creative solutions to hard cases. His disrespect for the chain of command makes him many enemies among his superiors, while his self-destructive behavior alienates his peers and friends.
