Luis Andrés Caputo (Buenos Aires, April 21, 1965) is an Argentine economist and, since December 10, 2023, he has been the Minister of Economy of the Nation under the presidency of Javier Milei. He held various positions during the government of former President Mauricio Macri, being Secretary of Finance of the Nation between 2015 and 2017, Minister of Finance of the Nation between 2017 and 2018 and President of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic in 2018. He completed his primary and secondary studies at Colegio La Salle. He has a degree in economics from the University of Buenos Aires, professor of economics and finance in the postgraduate program of the Argentine Catholic University. He is the first cousin of Nicolás Caputo, a construction businessman close to Mauricio Macri and uncle of Santiago Caputo, Javier Milei's campaign strategist. He served as head of trading for Latin America at JP Morgan Chase between 1994 and 1998, and for Eastern Europe and Latin America at Deutsche Bank between 1998 and 2003. He was director of Edenor (Empresa Distribuidora y Comercializadora Norte Sociedad Anónima) and of a mutual investment fund manager created by him. He has also been a member of the World Bank's Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency.
