Serge has quickly become one of my favorite characters of all time. He's so complex... Kaze to Ki no Uta is a beautiful work, even though certain aspects of it are absolutely problematic. I love Gilbert too, but in my opinion, Serge has the most well-rounded and interesting development. The traumas he endured were horrific and I feel like that is often overlooked... which, of course, is unfortunate but understandable. Gilbert's life was so tragic that it was sometimes hard to focus on much else. Anyway, clear Si-Fe in his constant comparisons between the past memories of his father and the current situation with Gilbert/the question of his own destiny. Ne grip in the later volumes of the manga whenever he crumbles under the constant stress and decides to ignore Gilbert, unable to make decisions and adopting a pessimistic view on the future (What do I do with these feelings? No one has been in this kind of situation... no one!") ("I'll stop! I'll stop... being so stupidly stubborn. We never had a chance Pascal! Even if I didn't do this strike... the result's the same.")
