I don't think "has niche interests" is a good enough reason to think he has high Ne. The degree to which he is methodical in his work and in how he has planned his life makes me moreso think he has high Si. His life purpose stems directly from his past experiences -- he relies on past experiences to make sense of his present (his parents' fates, but also the pasts of the spirits he helps). He is almost a caricature of etiquette and polite society. Underlying his wants and motives is his intense fear of death, of the unknown that lies beyond. This can be attributed to inferior Ne -- over-prominent Si can lead to the unpredictable and uncontrollable possibilities perceived through Ne to feel like threats.
