How others perceive their intelligence is very important to them and if someone else thinks they are intelligent they feel very good about themselves and if someone else thinks that they are unintelligent they feel very bad about themselves. Their desire to be seen as an intellectual may manifest as forcing themselves to read books (especially literature or non-fiction), obsessing over personality typology and wanting to be a personality type deemed "intelligent" e.g. INTX in MBTI or 5 in enneagram, and getting offended whenever someone comments on a logical fallacy in their speech.
