Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr , ( 1362-1419 AH ), a jurist , scholar , thinker, and Shiite religious authority . Following the spread of the news of his martyrdom, the regions of southern Iraq and the capital, Baghdad , witnessed popular anger known as the Al-Sadr Uprising, which the Baathist regime resisted with killings, arrests, and persecutions. The reactions were not limited to internal affairs only, but the protests expanded to include a group of neighboring countries, including Syria and Iran .
