Roger Cotes (10 July 1682, Burbage in Leicestershire - 5 June 1716 in Cambridge), English mathematician. A close friend of Isaac Newton with whom he shared the discovery of the Newton-Cotes method of numerical analysis, which generally extends the trapezoidal method and Simpson's method for calculating integrals.
