He's quite a caricature of e6. From the beginning, we see how he worries about being a target. And the way he dresses is even carefully planned in order to prevent negative outcomes. It's type 6 thinking ahead and preparing for the worst. Like all 6's, he's quite contradictory in behavior. He goes between phobic and counterphobic behaviors. Also obedience vs rebellion. I think he's more SP6 than SO though, as he's more focused on being submissive to others in order to be safe. "Perceiving others as a threat to their survival, Self-preservation Sixes use their geniality to befriend and align themselves with others to offset the possibility of others turning against them." - Maitri "They present an intolerance of fear, an angst that makes them be excessively compliant with the expectations of others, in an attempt to avoid conflicts." - Durán and Catalán His song “Cool as I Think I Am” is him having doubts about who he is and what he can do. And he has to pump himself up and gain the courage to face what’s scary. This song also has a similar sentiment to “Carrie” from the Carrie Musical, where she’s also building herself up and questioning who she will become. I believe both Carrie and Pete are SP6, and both represent the 6 who yearns to be braver than they are. And to want to be seen rather than be afraid of attention. Compare it to SO6, who is more set on some authority they can rely on, whether it's a person, group, ideology, or rules/reason. Being SO6 doesn’t mean just conforming to social order. SO6’s aren’t blind followers, they doubt what they can trust in. And need to find certainty in something, that they then become a “devout” believer in. Pete isn't really rigid in their beliefs, instead they are often ambivalent and unsure of things. Such as being easily persuaded by a popular girl to cheat in class. He has a need to submit or be of service to others. But he's also slow to trust, and tries to keep his relational distance (Fi) from others, like Steph or Ruth. He doesn't seem to hold himself to his own rules or logic, instead doing what he feels is right situationally (Te > Ti). While being someone who keeps a pulse on causality and how things develop (Ni), he also reflects on his own potential and potential of others (Ne). And he can see himself being more than who he is. Weak Si, he has a hard time relaxing, and poor sense of aesthetics/fashion. Instead, he dresses in a way that's practical, and he shows high analysis towards his own feelings. Finally, the hot chocolate scene is a great example of his weak Se: where he has no nuance to using it, often being way too forceful or way too meek (Se-polr).
