fun fact: maine is an anagram for anime as a mainer i think this state is more 9w8, while i can see 9w1 i think theres more 8 wing like the other comments say, while we are the safest state or at least in the top 3 (which can lead someone to think 1 wing), we are a more outdoorsy and physically active state than we are concerned with being useful/productive/not corrupted (in fact we seem to pay very little attention to that) plus we're more independent in the way that would lean toward the 8 wing rather than 1, but not so much that would make us 8 dom, since we are a state with a quite close-nit community which we keep close-nit
