Adding some more thoughts on Hugh Ransom's personality. I think we should look at his life prior to him coming up with a plan to take down the family. Hugh did not have any higher aspirations or idealizations and showed no interest in a external or rational goal. For these reasons it makes no sense for him to have high Te and Ni in his function stack. Hugh was someone who wanted to live life to its fullest and take things day-in and day-out and was criticized for not having higher aspirations or contributions for the family (Dominant Se + Inferior Ni). Essentially, Hugh fought back against Harlan and the family for being denied tangible experience and interacting with the concrete/objective world in how he wanted to which points Dominant Se. He has the adaptive Ti associated with ESTPs. Hugh is more of an opportunist and adapts based on the situation he's in and what he can get in the present moment. Even the scene when Hugh goes to see the opening of Harlan's will is an Se + Ti + Fe thing to do. He gathered and developed frameworks of the group through direct interactions and observations and he continued to do so with people like Marta.
