There's something really interesting about her in the manga. While we only saw a side of her (being sorta mean to Ontan), she was a fairly liked individual, and was extremely beloved by her community, and her death really changed several things in the manga, including the tone of it. I feel pity for her, especially considering how her boyfriend ended up turning.
