背景
Zuo Liangyu (Chinese: 左良玉) (1599–1645), courtesy name Kunshan (昆山), was a Ming dynasty general. He was the main rival of peasant army leader Zhang Xianzhong. His army was infamous for its bad discipline. After the death of Chongzhen Emperor, he occupied the region around Hubei province and nominally declared his loyalty to the Hongguang Emperor of Southern Ming. However, he started a rebellion against the Hongguang government, though he died on the way, greatly hastened the demise of Hongguang government.
