António Vieira (Lisbon, 6th February 1608 - Salvador, 18th July 1697) was a Portuguese religious, philosopher, writer and speaker of the Society of Jesus. One of the most influential figures of the 17th century in terms of politics and public speaking, he stood out as a missionary in Brazilian lands. His most notable sermon was "Sermão de Santo António aos Peixes" ("Sermon of Saint Anthony to the Fish").
