Part 1/2 In my argument for House being an introverted thinking type, I made mention of Cuddy being an extroverted typing driven more for results. This is true, but needs to be expanded on. All types care about results to some fashion. So, in typing her as ESTJ, I would like to first compare her to House’s introverted thinking style, and then make a comparison between ENTJs and ESTJs. House certainly cares about the results, and he also cares about his patients. House himself may deny his care, but that is simply a sign of inferior feeling. The results he is looking for though is ultimately internal truths. The case is solved when House understands it not necessarily when the patient is saved. Inferior feeling is repressed in favor it, which makes House reduce human behavior to logical principles like “everyone lies.” Cuddy is looking for more external results. The example I gave before is that she keeps House on because of his good results. Here runs into a clear problem. From the perspective of the finances, it could be argued that he does not bring good results. He undoubtedly wastes money, even when he is actively working on a case. Tenure or not, I find it doubtful that it would be difficult to fire him if she really wanted to. All this matters little because Cuddy is not focused on the financial results, but the lives that House is able to save. From that standpoint, House produces very good results. That is all good and well, but nothing about extroverted thinking should lead someone to consider the result of saved lives to be preferable to that of sound finances (or vise versa). This is based entirely on her own subjective values (Fi). It may be true to say that keeping House on brings objective good results, but only once she has determined (unconsciously) what good results ultimately look like.
