François Guizot, for civil status François Pierre Guillaume Guizot, born on 4 October 1787 in Nîmes and died on 12 September 1874 in Saint-Ouen-le-Pin, was a French historian and statesman, member of the Académie française from 1836, several times minister under the July Monarchy, in particular of Foreign Affairs from 1840 to 1848 and President of the Council in 1847, before being overthrown by the French Revolution of 1848.
