after watching hatai, i feel like hedwig's type consensus on here is mostly influenced by her being unapologetically queer, when that isn't the center of her personality, nor her only trait. whether intentional or not, her typing (ESFP 4w3 VFEL) feels incredibly stereotypical to me. here is how i would type her and why: ESFP: i think her Se dom is undeniable, and her (unhealthy) Fi aux is represented mostly in her tendency to make decisions based on other's wants, but believing that her decisions are based on her own intenteral want. especially early on in life, she decides what is right and wrong under the influence of family figures and romantic partners but coping with this loss of control by convincing herself it's what she wants as well. 7w8: while i can understand where some may think her core is 4, i do think this is entirely based on her queerness and not who she is as a person. hedwig's core is in 7 because of her fear of stagnicity. she does not sit still, she does not accept boredom, and she does not look at her problems head on. her 8 wing is tricky because it isn't a sense of control itself, but her desire for control. her partners take advantage of her, put her through life-altering scenarios without her consent, then throw her out. she wants her autonomy back. it'd argue that she does by the end by accepting who she is despite her past heartbreak. 478: i do think she has 4 in her! i think her need for individuality is strong! but it is not her core. additionally, she is not a w3 just because she's extroverted and a public figure. sp/sx: considering her 7 core, she is textbook sp/sx7. she is fierce, artistic, unapologetic, and has a great sense of humor. she also avoids pain, struggles to face her past, and does everything she can to escape (mentally and physically). her secondary focus being on relationships is very evident, as her story is told through her experiences with the men she loved. her struggles with commitment is not rooted in being unable to settle, but from her fear of rejection. SLE: hedwig expresses herself however she wants, and what she wants is to be loud, exaggerated, and fun. she may have an internal set of rules, but they can be broken or modified without much thought. she is in the moment, she doesn't concern herself with the future; she concerns herself with what she wants right now --- the rest can wait. EFLV: honestly, i think this is pretty self-explanatory. again, hedwig is textbook EFLV. her persona is loud, funny, ironic, sarcastic... but underneath the theatrics is her desire to find her true identity and how the physical world can validate those emotions. SLUAN: hedwig moves at her own pace, she values having fun over just about everything else. she has a tendency to rely on others making decisions for her, and she is easily influenced by her partners if she thinks it will help her in the long run (it usually doesn't). she will sometimes make decisions and struggle to understand why she did them --- there may not even be a reason for some of her actions. she does a lot to avoid rejection and it ruins her when she lets her guard down, just to be rejected again. Choleric-Phlegmatic: what the consensus sees in hedwig's mistyped w3 is represented in her temperaments. she is confident, outgoing, and blunt while also accommodating others. Chaotic Good: she goes against what is socially acceptable and bends societal rules to better express herself. underneath her persona; the confident, loud, and bluntness; she cares deeply for the greater good. she desires progress and acceptance. she wants the world to be openminded of not only her, but people like her, too.
