I believe that the chapters during his vacation show his Ni-Fe the best. Paul is distant from his family and doesn't state his emotions to them in fear of hurting them, nor does he speak up to the older men wanting to discuss the war with him. He notices that he is secluded via his perception of the world and is afraid to state certain things, such as his emotions or views in fear of not finding a place in the world he perceives "from a distance".
