ENFJ: Julie is quick to open up with R and share her true feelings about everything, even if it’s just her need to discuss what happened to her boyfriend with him. She spends a lot of their time together stuck in the airplane talking and trying to get to know R and drawing him out of his shell (“what are you?”). She teases him, talks to him, asks questions about his life, and tries to get to know him, playing music for him and using it as a bonding experience. Julie confides easily in her friends about her real feelings (“I miss him!”) and although she processes the truth about what happened to her boyfriend by running away, she also sees how it was unavoidable and forgives R by accepting that he needs to eat brains or he will die (Fe has a tendency to accept a new moral code, if society changes or other factors deem it necessary for human survival). Many of her decisions are emotionally based, but she isn’t completely aware of her own feelings—when her friend says she might be in love with R, Julie denies it at first and she takes a while to realize her friend is right. When he still can’t remember his name at the end, she says he could just pick a new one (and become whomever he wants to be). She trusts her emotions and what she has seen with her own two eyes more than she comes up with logical arguments to convince her father of why he should listen to her. But R and his friends fascinate her. She asks tons of questions about him—what are you? Why did you decide to save me? What’s happening to you? Julie embraces the idea that zombies can change, even though it was thought impossible and there is no rational proof outside the fact that she is still alive and R seems to be slowly changing. She thinks her way around bad situations as much as she can, but is not always rational in how impulsive her decisions can be. She has an unusual way of looking at the world; while others focus on survival, Julie earnestly believes that things will change –the world needs “exhumed” and they will all heal together. She knows R is different in an unusual and meaningful way, and considers him with no kind of external bias, despite all she has seen and even though she suspects he murdered her boyfriend (“I kind of… knew that”). She easily sees the implications of his gradual transformation, even over a few days, and knows instinctively that the corpses are waking up and it’s time for them to change tactics as humans and embrace them as something “new.” She has no proof other than what she “saw” (Se) to offer her dad, but is convinced of being right. Not only that, she thinks she can persuade her father to be “reasonable” despite all evidence to the contrary. Even though Julie is careful as an Enneagram 6, she is still an enormous risk-taker in her attempts to get back to her family and friends. She routinely sneaks out of the compound with her boyfriend to get supplies. When R takes her to the airplane, she ignores his caution that it isn’t safe and almost gets killed several times, trying to escape through the airport. Julie finds it hard to not be constantly doing things—stuck with R, she explores his music collection and teases him about his tastes; she has him try on hundreds of different pairs of sunglasses, she dances, she drinks, she eats, she finds books and reads them, anything to pass the time. Julie is most excited when they find a car with gas in it, and drives it at a super high speed around the airport runways, before she tries to teach R how to drive. Even though it’s dangerous, she lets him into her house once he enters the compound, makes him up to look human, and takes him to see her dad. She lets him throw them both off a balcony into a shallow pond to save her life from the Bonies. (FunkyMBTI)
