He seems a lot more like an ENTP to me. He's quick witted, snarky, clever, charming, fluent in sarcasm, and always cracking jokes. He likes to debate or play devil's advocate, can sometimes be a little bit brash or come across as a bit cocky but he always means well and deeply cares about everyone close to him. He's a great problem solver, is usually first to take action or to come up with a solution, and is pretty open-minded and an outside-the-box thinker. His brain is constantly coming up with something funny or clever to say, often at others' expense (but never in a malicious way, just playful and friendly banter and roasts) (Ne). He is usually pretty rational and often makes decisions guided by whatever he thinks is reasonable or unreasonable; he comes up with practical solutions and tries to be objective (Ti). He is also the glue of the friend group and cares deeply about his friends. They're family to him. He'd do just about anything for them.
